Our History

1988

PennComp was founded by Paul Pennington and began as a software development firm writing software packages such as “Quote Master” and “ShipTrax.”

1993

The firm began providing basic support for small to medium-sized businesses in the greater Houston area.

2008

Scott and Suzette Young purchased PennComp. Ten days into owning the company, Hurricane Ike had other plans for a smooth start.

2012

PennComp wrapped up a strong growth streak by tripling its number of clients and revenues over a 24-month period.

2016

PennComp expanded its private cloud offering to Phoenix.

2017

Hurricane Harvey made landfall in Houston, and the PennComp team helped clients maintain operations via robust private cloud offerings.

2018

PennComp began implementing EOS Traction, experienced another strong growth streak, and landed on the Top 100 Fastest-Growing Companies in Houston for the second time.

2019

Scott and Suzette sold a portion of their ownership to Oval Partners out of Palo Alto, California, to enable additional access to capital and intellectual resources.

2020

PennComp expanded its team and client base by acquiring the contracts of a local firm that was exiting the IT business during the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent economic crisis that caused work-from-home requirements for much of the United States.
